Lionel Manchee was the proud recipient of a Life Membership to the Shorthorn Society. Presentation of the award took place at the annual Yamburgan Bull Sale, before an audience of 300 people.
John’s father Lionel was made a Life Member of the Shorthorn Society of Australia following 60 years of service to the society and a lifetime devoted to the breed it represents.
Lionel says his father, who established the Yamburgan Shorthorn stud in 1947, was attracted to the breed for its quiet and docile nature, as well as its exceptional ability to gain weight.
Lionel was a key figure in the Society’s initiative to introduce quality commercial SFA cattle to stud herds.
We are very proud of the achievements Lionel made during his lifetime of work with the Shorthorn Society and the type of cattle he bred is a testament to our current successes.
